Habari everyone. I know that it has taken me some time to finally post. I arrived on May 28, and I’m very excited about this blog thing, but I have to pause for a second to give you an update on a temporary setback that I have experienced. On the way to Kenya, Flat Stanley got held up and stuck at customs at Barrister Court on my refrigerator
. However, Flat has both called and emailed saying that he is going to catch the first FedEx Flight out to Kenya. So stay tuned to see if Flat will finally make it. As most of you know, I’m working with FURSA-Opportunity located in Nairobi, Kenya over the summer (FURSA means opportunity in Swahili). FURSA is a community based organization for youth that is working to end youth poverty by closing the unemployment gap through leadership training and entrepreneurship.
My host family and the FURSA members have been awesome. I feel right at home. My first week will be simply orientation by the FURSA staff through a series of cultural experiences. Can you believe that they had a welcoming party for me today?…Go Kenya!!! (Enjoy the video posts and pictures from the party)..
